Nicki & Kev Stapler
@ Southsea Castle, Southsea, Portsmouth
The day had finally come for Nicki and Kev to tie the knot and celebrate their big day. I have known Nicki for many years now and it was an absolute honour to be asked to photograph their special day. I am not sure if they planned for their day to be held on the hottest day of the year but take my word for it, it was baking!
The ceremony was being held at Southsea Castle which is one of my favourite places on the South Coast and I am lucky enough to live just down the road. Situated on Southsea seafront, it was built by Henry VIII in 1544 to protect against attacks from France. It is now the perfect venue to hold a wedding with stunning 360 views of the Solent and Portsmouth.
I started the day with Nicki at their home where she was planning to get ready with her team of bridesmaids, son, daughter and soon to be step daughters. Hair was being done by professional hairdresser Tina Lyons and make-up by Nicki’s best friend and maid of honour Simone.
Here are a few images I captured of the girls getting ready in the morning…
Quick trip up and over the hill to see Kev whilst he gets ready at his dads with his best man Ed to help with the finer details. It was a very relaxed scenario and the guys had been out for breakfast in the morning.
The wedding ceremony wasn’t untill 3.30 in the afternoon so there was plenty of time to relax before heading off to the castle. Here are a few images I captured of Kev and his best man getting ready…
Quick trip back to the girls to photograph the big moment for Nicki and the moment that makes it all feel real… it was time for the donning of the dress.
Due to COVID unfortunately Nicki & Kev had to postpone their wedding so this moment and day had been long awaited for both of them. It was finally here though and I think you will all agree Nicki looks stunning in her dress.

I would just like to take a moment to say a huge thank you to both Nicki and Kev for letting me document there special day. It has been an incredibly difficult few years for everyone and all I can say is you guys look amazing together and here’s too many more years of happiness and adventures that await you both as the new Mr & Mrs Stapler.
Before I show you some of my favourites from the day though, I would just like to also say a huge thank you to all of their guests, friends and family. What a day it was and we all had great fun celebrating their wedding.
If you are currently in the process of planning your special day, why not drop me a message and let’s chat weddings!
